In their last years of school, Megumi’s starts travelling for longer periods of time, and then she even stays for a couple of months with shinomiya.
Souma, as always, is really proud of her achievements and how hardworking she is toward cooking, but after the last couple of trips, he starts thinking more often of her, how there is nobody to taste his dishes, and how good her feedback always is, the faces she makes after trying something bad but tries to be nice about it, her smile when she likes the flavor of something he made…
So when she arrives he is excited to show her the dishes he thought, and to hear her stories from far away countries and maybe cook something together, but she is always busy: with her club, showing some spice she learnt about on her journey to Hayama, trying a recipe with the Aldini brothers, working outside with Ishikki senpai or Yuki…
So he changes his approach and starts waiting for her at the mornings, they cook breakfast together, talk a little and go together to school, and sometimes he waits for her after she finishes some appointment to see her for little while.
After some weeks like that , Megumi starts realizing that maybe Souma feels a little lonely, because they hadn’t hung out together as often as before, and they’d been friends since the very beginning, so she starts spending a little more time with him, since she would soon be out for an ever longer time
Turns out Shinomiya senpai and Hinako senpai invited her to stay for a couple of months with each of them to train under their restaurants.
She tells Souma just the day before she goes out, because she doesn’t want to worry him, having in mind all the things he has to do being the first seat and all.
Souma is a little perplexed but happy for her, after all it would be good for her career, and both of them are Shinomiya senpai disciples.
After Megumi goes to her journey, Souma feels even lonelier than before, everyone at the dorm notices that, and even Erina takes a little pity on him.
Ishikki senpai sometimes makes him tea like Megumi does but it never tastes quite the same
When she finally arrives, he looks almost like a puppy, and everyone already has figured it out that he has fallen for her, well everybody but her and himself.
It takes a Souma figuring out that after they graduate they could be together even less, after all she is an amazing chef with already a good connections to get a job anywhere in the world, and then she would be out for years! And then the words of his father comes to his mind, turns out he has someone special to cook for and is that person is her.
So before graduation he actively seeks out for her, their relationship becomes closer than ever and Megumi invites him to her hometown on their last vacation.
There he sees her on her own element, with all the people who love her and learns more about her childhood.He falls even harder, so on their last day there he confesses and asks her if she would like to travel the world with him in the future.
Megumi accepts with tears in her eyes and a wonderful smile, she has liked him for long time, but never thought he would feel the same.
Some years after graduation they become a successful couple of chefs, having worked all over the world, and even appearing sometimes on TV. Megumi ID part of an Organization that rescues and preserves traditional cooking of different countries and Souma works looking and helping new talented chefs over the world, he is also eager to start a family with her.
